Mountbellew is the youngest club in the Itosu-kai Karatedo Ireland group. It began under Sensei Geraldine Mulkerins in January 2008 who retired from karate in December 2011. Sensei Jake Mulvany 3rd Dan managed Mountbelled for five years and later Sensei's Martin Ryan and Ray Coen.

Of late, a number of instructors have attended the IKKI Mountbellew Dojo to take class, Sensei's Leo Mulvany, Colin O'Connell, Aaron Fortune, Evan Donelan and Senpai Kieran Egan.

Intervarsities 2016 KarateJake mulvany IKKI

Sensei Jake Mulvany took part in the 2016 Intervarsities Karate Tournament in University College Bellfield in March 2016. He represented Athlone Institute of Technology where he studied for 4 years and graduating with a BSc. in Computer Design and Games Software
Development. Jake performed very well having just returned to competition after his studies and took silver in the mens senior kata competition.

IKKI Hosts Ayumu Oda Sensei

Jake Mulvany Ayumu Oda IKKIThe IKKI hosted Ayumu Oda Sensei in May 2015. Oda Sensei lives in California. He is a long term friend of the IKKI and we have met him many times over the years at international seminars and world karate championship tournaments.

Jake Mulvany OsakaJake Mulvany Osaka KumiteSensei Jake represented IKKI at the Itosu-Ryu Karatedo World Championships in Osaka, Japan in July 2013. See IKKI report, click here.

He also competed in individual kumite and team kumite. The Ireland team consisted of 25 competitors and 12 supporters. The Next IKIF World Championships take place in Hong Kong in 2017.

Sensei Jake ranks to 3rd Dan degree Black Belt

Sensei Jake ranked to 3rd Dan in December 2012.
There were ten students in total ranking in the group that day. The ranking panel on the day: Sensei's Leo Mulvany, Tony Dolphin, Claire Harte, Marie Dolphin and John Dolphin.
