Tony Dolphin Sensei, 5th Dan Karate, 4th Dan Kobudo is the head instructor at the Newinn Karate club. Tony began karate in the Social Centre Gym, Ballinasloe in 1976 under Richard Hayes Sensei and ranked to Shodan in 1983. In 1981, he travelled to Toronto, Canada where he trained with Shihan Kei Tsumura, Chief Instructor of Canada.
Tony Sensei is the President of Itosu-kai Karatedo Ireland and is a consultant to Itosu-ryu Karatedo International Federation (IKIF). He has completed the Introduction To Coaching Course and has attended refereeing courses (ONAKAI). He has also competed in the last three Itosu-ryu World Championships, Tokyo 2002, Los Angeles 2005 & Malaysia 2009.

Other black belt instructors (current & past) in the Newinn Karate Club include, Mairead Finnerty, Leona Dolphin, Eoin Dolphin, Frances O'Connor, Leona Lally and Martin Mitchell.

Congratulations to Gillian Creaven, Dale Glennon, Laura Creaven who sucessfully ranking to Shodan-ho in the Hombu, July 2011.
Congratulations also to Sensei Eoin Dolphin ranking to Nidan in Kobudo in December 2011 at the Hombu in Ballinasloe. The ranking consisted of basics and kihon kata in Tonfa, Bo, Sai, Kama and Nunchaku with major kata in B0 (Sakugawa-No-Kon-Sho and Shiromatsu-No-Kon-Sho).
