Itosu-Kai Karatedo Ireland Black Belt Instructors Complete Coaching Course In Karate IKKI level 1 coaching

Itosu-Kai Karatedo Ireland Compete In The Irish 2013 Intervarsities Karate Championshipsleo mulvany IKKI

IKKI competitors Jake Mulvany and Una Flynn competed in the 2013 Intervarsities Karate Championships held in the University Of Limerick, 9th February. Jake took gold in mens individual senior brown/black belt kata event. Una took silver in team kumite and bronze in team kata.

IKKI Attend Junior International Open 2012 In Dublin

Attending the U21 International in Dublin, May 26th were

The event had national competitors from Ireland, England & Wales. With almost 300 competing the Tallaght Leisure Centre proved to be "homely" and very athmospheric. Category sizes ranged from 25 to over 40, three tatami areas were in operation constantly, it was a busy and successful day. Results:
Evan Donelan, 3rd, 10-14 yrs boys kata, 2nd round in kumite
Faye Mulvany, 1st, 10-14 yrs girls kata
Nathan Donelan, 1st, 10-14 yrs boys kata, 3rd U14 kumite

Attending the Itosu-Kai European seminar 2012 in Copenhagen DK, L->R: IKKI representatives, Sensei's Kevin Casey, 5th Dan, Leo Mulvany 6th Dan, (IKKI Chief Instructor) & Tony Dolphin, 5th Dan (President IKKI).

Denmark Itosu-Kai recently held a European seminar in Copenhagen. Delegates from Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Scotland & Ireland attended the four day event held in the Danish HQ, Bosatsu (Hombu). Classes were given by various instructors & content ranged from Taisabaki, Kata work outs, Kumite drills, Kata/Bunkai, Kumite applications & Danish Police Selfdefence. Kobudo basic kihon sessions using Bo, Tonfa & Sai were delivered by Sensei's Leo Mulvany, Tony Dolphin & Kevin Casey from the IKKI (Ireland).
Congratulations to Sensei's Rene Thyge, 6th Dan, Chief Instructor, Michael Andersen, Anders Uhrenfeldt & Tejs Damkjær for running a successful seminar & many thanks for their hospitality.

 

European Senior Karate Championships, Adeje,Tenerife

d was selected by ONAKAI to compete for Ireland in Ladies Kata at the 47th European Senior Karate Championships. Marie Dolphin also attended the Championships as ONAKAI National Kata Coach. This years Europeans were held in Adeje in Tenerife'. 

 

Scottish Open:
Itosu-kai students Una Flynn, Favid Feury, Pamela Nee, Shane Dolphin, Karen Dolphin & Jake Mulvany compete in the Scottish Open April 21st. in
individual and team kata for O.N.A.K.A.I., the NGB for karate in Ireland.

Scottish Open - NEWS JUST IN: 21st April 2012, Individual kata competitors performed really well with some just missing medals. The Irish Mens Kata Team: Shane Dolphin, Jake Mulvany & David Feury (all Itosu-kai ) took gold this morning in this event. This included bunkai. Well done Team Ireland and Kata Coach, Marie Dolphin.

Kumite squad coach Sensei Kevin Casey & assistant coach Sensei Jake Mulvany will hold asensei kevinkumite squad National Itosu-kai kumite squad training session on Saturday, 12th May, 11.30am - 1pm, Ballinasloe Dojo. Session is to include current squad members and those students selected last March in Loughrea for kumite squad.

O.N.A.K.A.I. National Junior Kumite Squad Training

Attending the O.N.A.K.A.I. National Junior Kumite Squad training session were Shane Kilkenny, Nathan Donelan & Evan Donelan. This took place on Saturday, 12th May in Dublin under the National Junior Kumite Coach, John Connolly.
The boy's were selected to become part of the national squad at a national training session in the Hombu earlier this year.
